The junior year is an important time for students to start finalizing their plans for after high school. This is also a great time to take one or two college courses! ASU's Anatomy & Physiology Summer Camp
The Appalachian State University Department of Health, Leisure and Exercise Science offers an intense and rewarding summer residential or day camp experience in Anatomy and Physiology! This one-week camp will provide high school students with hands-on experience studying the major organ systems of the body, as well as discussion about diseases and injuries that affect these systems. There are no prerequisites except a strong interest in the sciences and adequate science and math background to understand the labs and lectures. After each full day of exploration in the Science of Anatomy and Physiology, evening group activities are offered under the supervision of the college-student counselors.

ASU's Forensic Anthropology Summer Camp
Appalachian State University is pleased to offer a summer residential camp experience in Forensic Anthropology! Set in the mountains of western North Carolina, on the beautiful campus of Appalachian State University, this one-week camp will provide high school students 15-18 years of age with hands-on experience in forensic analysis of the human skeleton.

ASU's Martha Guy Summer Institute
MGSI is held every July for three weeks. Students will spend the first two weeks on the Appalachian State campus learning about business and developing professional skills. Among the activities is a group project that involves developing a business plan. Each group presents its plan to a panel at the end of the first two weeks. The final week will be spent on an exploratory trip to Washington D.C. and New York City. Although this program is costly, scholarships are available for qualifying students.

NC A&T's Research Apprenticeship Program School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (SAES)
RAP is a four-week residential program for current high school juniors and seniors. Its main objective is to stimulate interest in careers in the food, agricultural, environmental, family and consumer sciences. In addition to spending two weeks on North Carolina A&T's campus and the opportunity to engage in scholarly activities, students will receive a stipend in the amount of $250 per week. The program pays room, board, health and accident insurance, and activity fees.

NC State's Summer Textile Exploration Program
The College of Textiles Summer Textile Exploration Program consists of four one-week sessions for rising high school seniors. Up to 30 students per week are chosen based on their academic success, extracurricular activities and their interest in NC State and science-related fields. Participants will live in one of NC State’s residence halls, all of which are equipped with air conditioning, refrigerators and microwaves. Much like college, resident advisers will live with the students throughout the program.

SUMMER VENTURES IN SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS
This is a four-week residential program for sophomores and juniors interested in science and math. Students are assigned to one of six UNC campuses and can select studies in a specialized area of math or science. GOVERNOR'S PAGE PROGRAM
This is a one-week internship in Raleigh’s Office of the Governor for students ages 16 – 18. Students must be in good academic standing. Applications are accepted year-round, and participants are given a $150 stipend. Students are encouraged to do this program during the summer months rather than miss school.

WFU BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER VOLUNTEEN PROGRAM
Each year, WFU Baptist Medical Center accepts applications from high school students for their Summer Volunteen Program. Students who are interested in medical careers and who are willing to commit to a long-term summer experience are encouraged to attend. The application can be found online and the program is competitive. Immersion in health career fields are difficult to obtain and this is a great opportunity to gain experience and knowledge.

NC STATE'S DESIGN CAMP
Design Camp is an annual series of pre-college summer programs offered at NC State University College of Design to high school and middle school students who are interested in design. Design Camp informs students about college study in design and raises awareness of the impact of design in all aspects of our everyday lives. The skills in design thinking and creative experience gained at Design Camp can empower students on their path toward becoming innovative problem solvers and prepare them to tackle the challenges of the future.

UNC Chapel Hill's Project Uplift Summer Program
Project Uplift is a special program that enables high-achieving rising seniors to experience college life on the Carolina campus. Students spend two days visiting classes, meeting with faculty and staff, interacting with Carolina students, and participating in cultural and social activities. There is a nonrefundable $25 program fee which covers all meals, housing, t-shirt, and program materials. Project Uplift is designed for students from underrepresented populations such as American Indians, African Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, and Asian Americans. We also welcome prospective first-generation college students and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Students should be academically motivated, rank in the top 20% of their class, be enrolled in a curriculum that includes AP course(s), foreign language, and advanced mathematics.

Summer Youth Leadership Program
The Initiative’s Summer Youth Leadership Program, launched in 2008, aims to develop the next generation of North Carolina leaders through an intensive, innovative eight-week summer program. The program places rising high school seniors in internships with high-performing community organizations around the state. It exposes them to the world of community economic development while giving them experience in the workplace. NC A&T Advancing Mathematics & Science Skills Program (AMASS)
For rising high school juniors and seniors with a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Program Cost: $100.00 program fee. Program Objectives: Live on campus for two weeks, SAT preparation in Mathematics, Reading and Writing, Workshops in test-taking skills and college applications, Scientific exploration projects integrating mathematics in the study of scientific problems, Individual Academic/Career Planning – receive coaching in goal-setting for high school, undergraduate, graduate and career planning, Networking with like-minded students.

CAMP MED: Wake Forest School of Medicine
The program’s aim is to identify 10-15 ninth through twelfth grade high school students who have an interest in a health career and academic potential for a career in the health sciences. The goal of Camp Med is to identify a diverse group of students interested in health careers. Camp MED is a one-week day camp designed to recruit, educate, and prepare high school students for careers in the health professions. Activities include presentations, tours/observations and clinical experiences.
